HANNOVER, GERMANY (March 22nd, 2004) -- Innovative software's "Best Actor" also trod the red carpet at this year's CeBIT. At the "CeBIT-Highlights" awards, presented for the twelfth year running by CHIP computer magazine to the trade show's best, most innovative new products, the newest version of Nero 6 snapped up the CeBIT Oscar over products by Microsoft and Adobe. CHIP's editorial team awards the coveted title in a total of six categories, and the runaway winner in "CeBIT-Highlight Software“ was Nero 6.3, the new multimedia suite from Ahead.
From regular feature to star of the show
Playing and recording DVDs and CDs, editing video and music files and automating data backup – just a few of the features that have transformed Nero 6 from straightforward software burning program to full-scale multimedia suite. Ahead's newest development is the first ever burn software package to feature high-compression MPEG4 codecs for video and HEAAC for audio. For users, this means that a complete movie can be recorded onto a single CD in flawless quality. In addition, the software represents today's solution to tomorrow's burning needs; Nero not only deals with double-layer DVDs, but is also one of the first programs to speed up data access by using 64-bit and hyperthreading technology. "Consistent exploitation of state-of-the-art technology", was the comment of Judith Berkemeyer from CHIP's editorial team, "Thanks to the wealth of intelligent, well-designed features plus extreme user-friendliness, our decision to select Nero 6.3 as "CeBIT-Highlight Software" was an easy one.“
Closer Focus on Users
The Nero 6 Suite developed out of an ambition to create a package that met users' needs and desires as effectively as possible. It's a thoroughly logical, wholly customer-oriented advance on the bestselling Nero Burning ROM 5.5 that more than achieves its lofty target. Klaus Bock, General Manager of Ahead Software AG, confirms: "Our objective was to offer not only an all-in-one burn program, but an entire suite covering all functions related to production of media content and burning it on CD or DVD. This award for Nero 6 is a great honor for us, because it delivers the impressive proof that yet again, our vision of high-tech plus maximum usability really works.“
