How to find your serial number

You can usually find your Nero serial number on the CD package of the box version or in the confirmation e-mail you received after purchasing a downloadable version in the Nero Online Shop.

Retrieve your serial number manually

1. Windows XP: Click "Start  Run" and type "REGEDIT" in the "Open" text box. Click "OK" to open the Registry Editor.

   Windows Vista: Type "REGEDIT" in the "Start Search" text box. Press the "Enter" key on your keyboard to open the Registry Editor.

2. Open the file.
   
   For Nero BackItUp 4:
   On 32-bit systems follow this path:
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
    SOFTWARE
    NERO
    SHARED
    NL 9
   On 64-bit systems follow this path:
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
    SOFTWARE
    WOW6432NODE
    NERO
    SHARED
    NL 9

    

   Your serial number will appear in the right window of the Registry Editor in the "Serial" line.

   Please note that you may find several serial numbers here (depending on the installed Nero products). Nero BackItUp 4 serial numbers are structured as follows:

   1M11-xxxx- xxxx- xxxx- xxxx- xxxx- xxxx- xxxx

   or

   9M11-xxxx- xxxx- xxxx- xxxx- xxxx- xxxx- xxxx

   
   
   For Nero BackItUp & Burn:
   On 32-bit systems follow this path:
