You can register your Nero software within the My Nero community. When creating a My Nero account you will be able to enter your serial number and register your software.

This is a common error message when you have a corrupted download. This can be caused by Firewall or Anti-Virus protection. Please disable these first, and then download and install our latest releases of our software.

We are currently making this offer as an optional download with the Nero packages, at the user's choice and discretion.
You may be sure that our software does not contain any viruses or spyware. Our web versions are checked for viruses before they are uploaded to our web page and there is a permantent virus scan running on our ftp servers. Therefore we can rule out the probability that your PC got infected by our files. If you will get a virus warning please check that your virus scanner has the latest updates or virus definitions installed.
If you still get a warning message during the installation, please deactivate your virus scanner for the installation process of Nero. Disconnect from the internet prior to deactivating your virus scanner.

To change the details in your My Nero registration, please proceed as follows:
- Login with your registered e-mail address and your password to the following website:
https://register.nero.com/eng/login.asp - Click the My Home tab and then the My Profile entry.
- Select the different entries on the navigation bar and change your personal details.
To create a Nero BackItUp ImageTool disc, open Nero BackItUp.
You can access Nero BackItUp through Nero StartSmart: choose the "Launch applications" button in the bottom left hand corner and select Nero BackItUp.
→ The "Home – Nero BackItUp" window will open.
Now select the "Tools" → "Create Bootable Disc" entries in the menu bar.
→ The "Create bootable Disc" window will open.
Insert a CD/DVD and click the "Create" button.
After you have burned this CD, insert it into your drive and boot your computer with this disc.
To boot the computer from this disc proceed as follows:
Insert the CD/DVD and restart your computer. If Windows loads despite the boot disc, you will have to change the boot sequence in the BIOS. The necessary instructions can be found in the manual that came with your computer.
When the program is loaded please choose your desired language first.
After having made your selection a window similar to the one from Nero BackItUp appears.
In rare cases it can happen that a drive is not recognized at first and that it is therefore not available in the list (e.g. USB hard drives). In this case click “Rescan devices” in the menu toolbar.
On the left side you can see a list of available options. Select your desired option (Back Up, Restore, Verify), enter your source and target drive, and enter a new disc when the program prompts you to do so.

The message that the partition or hard drive cannot be locked is not an error message. It is merely a warning indicating that the partition/hard drive is still being used by your operating system. The result of this is that constant changes can occur in system files while the backup is running. This usually leads to errors during the verification at the end of the backup process. However, the changes to the system files do not impact the restore process. You can continue without any problems.

To unlock the trial version of Nero BackItUp 4, you need to enter your Nero BackItUp 4 serial number in the Nero ControlCenter.
To do so, please proceed as follows:
Click "Start" in the Windows Start menu.
Subsequently select the "All Programs" → "Nero" → "Nero ControlCenter" entries.
→ Nero ControlCenter will open.
In Nero ControlCenter, click on the “License” entry on the left side.
→ The license screen is displayed.
Enter your serial number in the “New serial” input field and click the “Add” button.
→ Your trial version of Nero BackItUp 4 is changed into the full version of BackItUp 4.
To do so, please proceed as follows:

It's likely that installation problems are caused by a previous version which is or was installed on your system. If you are experiencing any download problems please download the Nero Cleantool from our website and use it for removing all Nero files from your computer. After that proceed to install the latest available update for your Nero version.
If you still experience problems please contact our technical support and provide the following information:
• Send a screenshot which shows the exact error message you get.
• Send the installation log files by using our GetSupportFiles tool.
Download the tool GetSupportFiles.zip and perform the following steps:
Extract the zipped file on your hard drive using WinZip or WinRAR. Start the tool by double-clicking on the EXE-file. Once the tool ran successfully, you will find a file called "NeroSupport.cab" on your desktop. Please attach the file "NeroSupport.cab" to your e-mail.
The following information will be collected in the NeroSupport.cab:
Nero Infotool, Nero log files (including installer log files), MSInfo, DXDiag

In some cases our servers could be down, or we may have an unusual amount of traffic on our website at the time you have attempted a download. In these instances, all you need to do is try again at a later time that same day. If it's over the weekend and the server is down, wait till the following Monday and we will have the problem resolved. We do provide up to 6 servers to download from. It's unlikely all 6 are down at the same time.
