The problem is not caused by Nero directly.
Usually it is caused by a missing VCRedist module.

To solve the “atl100.dll is missing” problem on your system, it will be sufficient to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 manually. You can download Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 from following link:

Those offers can be so called OEM versions (Nero 5 or 6) or Essentials (Nero 7, Nero 8, Nero 9, Nero 10 or Nero 11). These versions do not have the full functionality of a full Nero version. The sale of these versions is allowed in Germany, Austria, Eastern Europe and China. According to the current legal situation, the sale in other countries is not allowed without the bundled hardware (e.g. recorders or pc systems).
It is also possible that very cheap versions are illegal ones.

Whether an offer on the several auction platforms can be regarded as immaculate can mainly be defined by its pricing.
If the price of an offer deviates considerably from the pricing on www.nero.com, it can likely be regarded as suspicious.
Nevertheless, this can't be determined before we have been provided the serial number of the product.
Please don’t hesitate to send the offer (link, screenshot, etc.) to legal@nero.com, so we can check the offer for you.

The fact that other vendors are offering similar or identical products on the platform, can unfortunately not be seen as proof for a genuine product.
Also, the availability of a genuine invoice, doesn't mean anything as these can be copied numerous times.

You can always purchase a genuine product using www.nero.com.

The burn problem can be caused by the following:

1. Outdated firmware of your recorder
2. Poor media quality (e.g. CD or DVD)
3. Write speed set too fast

Please proceed with the following steps to solve your problem:

1. Please proceed as follows to find out the exact name of your recorder and your firmware version - you can use the Nero InfoTool to find this information.

Download the file "InfoTool.zip" and save this file to your desktop.
Extract the zipped file on your hard drive using WinZip or WinRAR.
Double-click on the EXE file to start the Nero InfoTool.
The window "Nero InfoTool - Retrieving Information" will open.

Please wait until the progress bar has moved completely to the right.
The window "Nero InfoTool" will open.

Click on the "Drive" tab.
The manufacturer and the model of the recorder are being displayed.

If necessary, use the drop-down menu at the top right margin of the window to select your recorder.
In the top right corner you will see the firmware version.

Compare the displayed version with the information available on the website of the manufacturer of the recorder to see if a firmware update is available for

your recorder.
If you do not have the current version, please contact the manufacturer of your recorder to get the latest firmware for your model.

Please note that an old firmware can cause compatibility problems as well as burn failures.

Firmware updates for your recorder are provided only by the manufacturer of your recorder.
All firmware updates and support for updating the firmware of your recorder must be provided by either the recorder manufacturer or the OEM you purchased

your recorder bundle from. We are sorry not to be able to assist you in this.

Legal disclaimer:
"Nero AG is not liable for firmware updates as these updates are not offered by Nero AG. All updates are performed at one’s own risk. Nero AG will not be liable for the legality of the firmware."

2. Use another brand of media:

Try more than one brand of media. For Example: TDK, Verbatim, Imation, Yamaha, HP, etc.
Also contact the manufacturer of your recorder drive and ask for tested and recommended recordables for your recorder drive.

3. Change the write speed settings to a lower speed.

The DVD-Video format uses the MPEG-2 video codec for compressing video files onto a DVD. This compression allows a 4.38 GB DVD-R/-RW/+R/+RW to hold up to 135 minutes of video with significantly higher quality than that achieved with a VHS video or with a video CD. The disc can be played on most DVD players, which means, for example, that you can store home videos with very high quality. Computer DVD drives with appropriate software can also play DVD-Video. A DVD-DL disc (DL = double layer) doubles the storage capacity of a disc and, as a result, the space for a DVD-Video.

In some cases our servers could be down, or we may have an unusual amount of traffic on our website at the time you have attempted a download. In these instances, all you need to do is try again at a later time that same day. If it's over the weekend and the server is down, wait till the following Monday and we will have the problem resolved. We do provide up to 6 servers to download from. It's unlikely all 6 are down at the same time.
In most cases, the problem is not at our end of the connection. To resolve issues at your end, you should do the following:
- Disable any anti-virus program, Norton Protection or similar programs.
- If you are at work, you may need to approach your IT administrator, as you may have a firewall preventing such downloads.
- Contact your Internet Service Provider.
- Try downloading from another computer.
- Any kind of popup blocker could also cause problems. Please disable them while you download.

CD Text consists of additional information on a CD that can store e.g. music track titles and artists. CD Text is stored in the so-called lead-in area of the CD before the audio data starts. The display on the CD player shows the additional data. You must have a CD burner which supports CD Text to enable the CD Text to be written to a CD. In particular, CD Text can only be written in disc-at-once mode.

The Digital Versatile Disc is the optical data carrier successor of the CD. A DVD is a circular plastic disc with a diameter of 12 cm, but it can store a significantly larger amount of data. A DVD can be written to in two layer per page. The standard size is the DVD-5, which features an actual storage capacity of 4.38 GB - double-sided and double layer DVD's can store up to 18 GB. The collective term DVD often mixes disc and disc format: Disc means the physical medium, e.g., a DVD+RW, a rewritable DVD. Multimedia content is stored on the disc in a defined disc format, e.g. DVD+VR, which also defines which features, e.g. subtitles, are available. MPEG-2 is the video codec most commonly used.

The MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3 audio format is used to reduce the size of audio files to a fraction of their original size (factor 1:10) with little loss of quality. You can estimate about 1 MB per minute as opposed to 10 MB for the original files. This value and the quality can vary depending on the complexity of the audio signal. The bit rate used can be used as a measure of quality. The higher the bit rate, the better the quality, but also the more memory required.

Blu-ray technology refers to burning on special data carriers. In comparison to DVD's, which use a red laser in order to read and write data, Blu-ray discs are written with a blue laser.
The shorter wavelength (405 nm) of this blue laser makes it possible to position the laser with greater accuracy. Data can be written in a more compact manner and takes up less space on the disc. A Blu-ray disc can store up to 25 GB on a single layer disc and up to 50 GB on a dual layer disc.

The DVD-Video disc format uses the MPEG-2 video codec for compressing video files onto a DVD.

Track-At-Once refers to a write method in which each track is written to the disc individually. The writing process is interrupted briefly after each track, i.e. the laser starts again for each track. With this write method, it is only possible to continue writing to a DVD sometimes and at a later stage. There is a pause of at least 27ms between tracks, which can be disruptive for Audio CDs.

A buffer underrun is an interruption in the data flow in the internal memory (e.g. of the recorder). A buffer underrun results from an interruption in the data flow to the internal buffer. The buffer continues to deliver data until it is finally empty. When recording, data is fed continuously to the recorder's buffer in order to keep a steady flow of data. If the steady flow of data is interrupted, the media becomes unusable. Most modern recorders have a protective mechanism against buffer underruns.

As the frame is generated, only the odd lines from the output device are displayed for the first half frame. When this is complete, the second half frame is generated from the even lines. The two frames are encoded separately. The relatively high refresh frequency means that the eye picks this up as a single frame.

The upload time of your projects depends on several factors:
• Internet connection (speed)
• Number of pages and pictures in your photo book (size)
• Resolution of your pictures (size)

Please note that the upload speed and the available bandwidth for the upload can vary, depending on the Internet connection, differences in the upload speed for A-DSL, S-DSL, V-DSL, as well as cable or satellite, or if a W-LAN connection is used, etc.
The actual possible data transfer rate of a DSL access also depends on the distance to the next service switching center.

Theoretically, the maximum available upload rates for A-DSL are as follows:

Upload (max.)
DSL 1000 128 Kbit/s
DSL 2000 192 Kbit/s
DSL 6000 384 Kbit/s
DSL 16000 1024 Kbit/s

Our experience is that a photo book with 24 pages, which includes 48 pictures, taken with a 5 mega pixel camera, plus text and effects takes approximately ten minutes for uploading with a DSL 2000 connection.

A key frame is a term taken from animation and filmmaking and is used in video editing in a similar sense. Basically key frames define the starting point and the end point of a transition that is to take place in a film sequence. Within a sequence you can set a number of key frames i.e. for the start and end of a fade in of a video sequence, or a change of colour, or the change in size of a picture within a picture. These key frames are set on a time line and are tied to single frames (pictures).
Once you have set the key frames and defined the appearance of the result in the end key frame, the software will calculate the changes that have to take place in between these key frames, so that a transition will appear smoothly.

Nero Multimedia Suite 10 Platinum HD includes Blu-ray Disc Authoring for cinema-quality Blu-ray Disc and HD videos in Nero Vision. The new Picture-in-Picture effects generator makes adding overlays to high resolution video projects easy, and Nero Background Rendering allows for smooth, uninterrupted video previewing when creating complex HD videos.
From Blu-ray Disc to HD video, if you want to create your own digital videos, this solution makes it easy to create lasting memories. Use the latest AVCHD or MPEG-2 HD camcorders and save hours of editing time with Nero AVCHD and MPEG-2 SmartEncoding. SmartEncoding only renders those parts of your video that were modified during a recent edit (e.g. with transitions or effects) and leaves the other sequences untouched. The result will save you a lot of time when publishing your finished movie.
Nero Multimedia Suite 10 Platinum HD supports Blu-ray Disc and AVCHD playback, import, editing, and publishing to AVCHD or Blu-ray Disc. Additionally Nero Multimedia Suite 10 Platinum HD supports DV and HDV formats and includes a tape scan feature that allows you to quickly and easily preview and select scenes from your DV or HDV tape. Capture the pre-selected scenes and save time managing your video project and save hard disc space, too.
If you’re using mixed standard definition and High Definition footage in one project, Nero Video HD gives you an SD to HD conversion filter that boosts the picture quality to make it look like HD. Nero Multimedia Suite 10 Platinum HD also supports AVCREC playback.

Yes, you can use both Nero audio applications (Nero Wave Editor and Nero Soundtrax) to record streaming audio. Please note that your soundcard needs to support this feature.
The procedure for recording audio streams depends on the operating system.
Please proceed as follows to record audio streams:

Windows XP:

- Open Nero WaveEditor or Nero SoundTrax.
- Click the "Options" "Device Settings" entries in the menu bar.
- Select your sound card in the "Input device" drop-down menu and confirm with "OK".
- Click the "Audio" "Record" entries in the menu bar to open the "Recording Console".
- Select the desired sample format and confirm with "OK".
- Go to "Audio Input Line" and select the "Stereomix", "WaveMix" or "What you hear" option from your sound card (not all sound cards offer these functions).
- Now you should be able to record audio streams.

Windows Vista/Windows 7:

- Open Nero WaveEditor or Nero SoundTrax.
- Now click the "Options" "Device Settings" entries in the menu bar.
- Go to "Input Device" and select the "Stereomix", "WaveMix" or "What you hear" option from your sound card and confirm with "OK".
- Click "Audio" "Record" to open the "Recording Console".
- Now you should be able to record audio streams.

Please note that you should usually be able to select the "Stereomix", "Wavemix" or "What you hear" option in the "Input Devices" drop-down list so that you can record a stream. If this option is not dis-played then it might be deactivated by default.
To activate it, proceed as follows:

Open the Control Panel (in "Classic View" mode).
Double-click the "Sound" icon.
Click the "Recording" tab.
Here you can see the currently activated devices.
Right-click in the field to open the context menu. Select "Show Disabled Devices".

Now the list should allow you to select the "Stereo Mix", "Wave Mix" or "What You Hear" option. Select the disabled option and right-click on it to select "Enable".

Now open Nero WaveEditor or Nero SoundTrax and select the option as input device in "Options" "Device Settings".

The recording options in Nero WaveEditor and Nero SoundTrax are displayed differently in Windows XP and Windows Vista/Windows 7.

In Windows XP the sound card is seen as one device. Therefore, selecting a device will allow you to access all input options in the recording console.

In Windows Vista/Windows 7 every input option is seen as a separate device. Therefore, the sound card input option must first be selected in "Device Settings".
You get to this window by clicking the "Options" "Device Settings" entries in the menu bar.
In this window, select the preferred "Input Device".
After that, the "Master Volume" entry in the recording console represents the input device selected in the "Device Settings" window.

In order to analyze your problem properly, we require some additional information.

To get the installation log files, it will be necessary to manually collect them after the installation process. Start the Nero installation again.
The installation process will be logged and saved into a MSI log file. After the installation of Nero failed, open your Windows Explorer and enter in
the address field %temp%. In the temp directory should be a MSIx.log (x for installationnumber) file. Please send us this log file that we can analyze the failed installation process.

Please also create a logfile with the help of the Getsupportfile. Use the following steps:

http://www.nero.com/link.php?topic_id=209&gen_id=8

Extract the zipped file on your hard drive using WinZip or WinRAR. Start the tool by double-clicking the EXE-file. The “C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe” window opens. The tool may take several minutes. You can track the single steps in the displayed window.

After the tool has successfully run you will find a file named “NeroSupport.cab” on your desktop. Please send us both file as an e-mail attachment.

Additionally, we would like to point out some details of the “GetSupportFiles” tool. The following information will be gathered:

- All available log files of different Nero applications.
- System information gathered by the Windows tool “MSInfo32″.
- Information on the installed DirectX version. For this, the Windows application “DXDiag” will be used.
- The “SchedLgU.txt” log file. This file contains information on currently scheduled tasks (e.g. the JobScheduler in Nero BackItUp).
- Extracts from the registry:
a. Information on the settings with which Nero applications run.
b. Information on how the CD/DVD drives have been installed.
Please note:
If the “GetSupportFiles” tool crashes then simply start it again.
When the tool is started again it will automatically recognize the particular program that caused the crash. As a result, that diagnostics program will be omitted.

Please send the gathered information by e-mail to techsupport@nero.com

The error 1158 appears during the extraction of the installation file already,
not during the actual installation process. This error can be caused by either an incomplete or damaged
download of the installation file or by a compatibility problem.

First, please download the Nero 2014 installation file to your hard drive again.
Disconnect your internet connection and disable your antivirus software.
Press right mouse tab onto the .exe file you downloaded.
Select “Properties” in the context menu.
Choose the “Compatibility” tab in order to change the “Compatibility Mode” to:
“Windows XP SP3" if you are using Windows XP or Windows Vista
"Windows 7" if you are using Windows 7.
"Windows 8" if you are using Windows 8.
Confirm your settings with “apply” and press “OK”
Start the installation again.

If your Nero version came with your burner or computer then you own an Essentials or OEM version.

The serial number is located on the back of the Nero CD paper sleeve or it enters itself during in the installation from the CD.

If you do not have this disk anymore or the program came pre-installed on the hardware, a reinstallation of Nero is only possible, if you saved the serial number yourself.

We do not have any record of the serial numbers of CD Aor OEM/Essentials versions, because of the individual packages. Unfortunately we are not able to provide you with a replacement serial number.

There is no automatic online registration by installing the product on your PC.

Additionaly we would like to inform you that you have purchased a limited Nero version that does not contain all features of the full retail version.
The CD/DVD recorder manufacturers or computer distributors (who bundle Nero with their products) decide which Nero applications will be included in the OEM/Essentials version. This decision is not made by Nero itself.

Most file syncing services have a single folder for all of the files you want to access via the web. You upload your files to a single location, and then access them from any of your web-enabled devices. If you overwrite or delete a file from that main upload folder, the file is gone from the online storage—and all of your devices along with it.

We offer a different solution that lets you control how and where your files are stored. With Nero BackItUp, your files will not be automatically downloaded to your devices, which will free up valuable space on your local hard drives. Plus, you’re protected from losing your files if you should accidentally delete them from your local hard drive. Nero BackItUp also gives you a choice of where you want to keep your backed-up files. For example, you can use online storage for files that you want to access from anywhere at any time, and then use your external hard drive or a disc for anything that you might not want to upload to the cloud.

Backup target:
The available backup locations vary in performance, accessibility and the level of protection they provide.

Internal hard drives - those already installed on your device — provide the highest performance and convenience, but they are the least reliable option.

External hard drives and Network Attached Storage devices that connect directly to your PC but have a different power source provide a much higher level of protection.

Storing files on discs—like CDs, DVDs or Blu-rays—is another safe option, but the manual transfer of files can be time consuming.

Backups to online storage also provide very good protection since they are stored off-site. You can also access backed-up data from any web browser or the Nero BackItUp apps for Android, iOS and Windows Phone.

We recommend that you backup everything that is important to you. We understand, however, that all files are not the same—you may want to share photos from your family vacation while keeping sensitive financial data under tight security. That’s why we designed Nero BackItUp to allow you to tailor your settings to meet your privacy needs.

Backup schedule:
There are some files that you use once in a while and others you need to access on a daily basis. Nero BackItUp lets you schedule jobs at different time intervals to accommodate for that. For instance, you can schedule a once-weekly backup for files that you don’t change all the time, and a continuous backup for those that are constantly being edited. When you schedule a continuous backup job, the file will be saved every time a change has been made. That means you can rest assured that your file will be current and available to you across all of your devices.

Compression and encryption: Nero BackItUp can apply compression and encryption to your local backups. Hardware-accelerated AES 256bit encryption makes sure that your backup is encrypted and can only be accessed with your password. Compression helps save space on your target device.

Unlike services like DropBox or Google Drive that only save the latest version of your files, Nero BackItUp can create a backup for all versions of files that you want to protect. If you make any changes to a file, all previous versions of that file will be kept on your local drive and others devices. So even if you delete a file from your computer, all previous versions of that file will remain available to you. (Please note that you must save previous versions of files to a local drive or disc, rather than via the web. Online backups only allow you to save the most recent versions of your files.)

Whether your Internet connection is through DSL, Cable, Powerline or Fiber, it is usually asynchronous. This means that the upload speed—the rate at which you can backup data to online storage—is only a fraction of the download speed—the rate at which you download from online storage or browse the web. Usually the upload bandwidth is just 5-25% of your download bandwidth. When you purchase Internet service, that big bandwidth number advertised by your service provider generally applies only to download speeds.
Was this FAQ helpful to you? This FAQ helped me!This FAQ did not help me!
Go to www.speedtest.net (this page is not associated in any way with Nero) and run a speed test. The upload speed is what matters most when it comes to online backups. The result is given in Mbps (Megabits per second). Check if the results of the speed test match the speed promised in your Internet service provider’s contract.
Was this FAQ helpful to you? This FAQ helped me!This FAQ did not help me!
First, you need two values: the upload rate of your Internet connection and the total size of the data to be backed up. The upload rate is given in Megabits per second (Mbps). Take the file size in Megabytes and multiply it by 8 to get the file size in Megabits (1 Megabite = 8 Megabits). Finally, divide the size in Megabits by your upload rate. This will give you the approximate time in seconds that your backup job will need to be finished. You should add some 10-20% to get a realistic estimation since other apps on your PC might also be using some of the available bandwidth.

Example: 25.3GB of photos, 5Mbit/s upload rate
Calculation:
1. 25.3 Gigabyte * 1000 = 25.300 Megabyte
2. (25.300 Megabyte * 8) / 5 Megabit/s = 40.480 seconds
3. 40.480 seconds / 60 / 60 = 11.24 hours
4. 11.24 hours + 15% makes for about 13 hours that you will need to complete the initial backup.

However, Apple only allows us to run background backup when the geo-location of your device changes significantly. To be notified of these geo-location changes, Nero BackItUp needs to access your location. We’re not asking the device for your actual whereabouts, just if the location has changed recently.

When you launch Nero BackItUp for the first time, it will ask for access to your camera roll. If the app can’t find any photos, it most likely doesn’t have access to your camera roll. To verify and enable access, please go to the iOS “Settings”, select “Privacy” and then “Photos”. Please verify that the toggle switch setting for BackItUp is in the “On” position.

Background backup runs automatically whenever your device is plugged-in and connected to Wi-Fi. So while you’re asleep, Nero BackItUp makes sure all your photos are backed up safely without draining your battery during the day or eating up your bandwidth. You can enable background backup in the app settings or through the camera settings.
