In TiVo Central®, press the Messages and Settings button to manage your settings.
Press select.

The Messages and Settings screen is displayed.

You can check and change all settings here - even configurations supported in the wizard. You also have access to system messages, system information, a help link, and the system reset option. To repeat the Guided Setup, select the Reset System option.

Messages
Internal alerts or messages from the TiVo® service are displayed under Messages. Messages can alert you about new TiVo® features, important TV schedule changes, channel lineup changes, or other information.
Settings
Change the settings for your audio, channel, display, DVD, recording, and video. You can also set your parental controls.

Now, go to the Settings button to check and change all settings.
Press select on your remote control or use the mouse.
The Settings screen is displayed.

Audio
The Audio settings screen allows you to change:
- Preferred audio language
The preferred audio language will be used for both DVD and TV (when available) - Sound effects volume
The played sounds when you press buttons on the remote control. The default is Medium. - Television audio source.
Select your preferred default audio program for channels that offer alternate audio programs.
Secondary audio programs (SAP) are audio broadcasts in a language other than English. Programs will be recorded with the secondary audio program if SAP was selected and if it is available.
Display
The display settings let you adjust several display functions. These are: screen saver, language, activation of the video window in menus, location of Nero LiquidTV™ window, and many other options.
Remote Control
You can set up your remote control in 3 steps:
Part 1: TV Power, volume and mute
Select the TV brand
Each brand has a special TV remote code which will be displayed after the brand is selected
Part 2: A/V, volume, and mute
Select the brand of your A/V receiver
Each brand has a special code which will be displayed after the brand is selected
Part 3: TV input
Press the TV INPUT button to change the input source to your TV. This will allow you to switch to other video sources.
Recording
Use this screen to set you default recording quality.
- Automatic Padding
If this option is enabled, Nero LiquidTV™ will automatically start recording 2 minutes before program start and stop recording 2 minutes after program end. - Clip Overlapping Program
When programs overlap by less than 5 minutes, Nero LiquidTV™ will check to see which program has been given higher priority in the Season Pass™ Manager. - Extend Live Recording
You can add extra recording time for live events that could extend beyond their scheduled time. - LiveTV Buffer
Nero LiquidTV™ can record Live TV as it is being broadcasted so you can rewind and see what you missed. You can set how far back you want to record and on how many tuners. - Recording Space and Locations
Select the space and the location of the TV Recordings as well as the folder for your portable devices (iPod®, PSP®). - TiVo® Suggestions
You can decide if you want to automatically record TiVo® Suggestions whenever extra space is available.
Video
- Aspect Correction Mode
The aspect correction mode determines how video should be displayed to fit your TV when the aspect ratios are not the same. - Letterbox Color
You can choose between black and gray when letterboxin 16:9 content on 4:3 televisions. - TV Aspect Ratio
Choose between 16:9 widescreen and 4:3 standard screen. - Video Output Format
Choose the format which is compatible with your television - Video Smoothing
Use this setting to smooth the video. Smoothing will decrease the static and improve the picture on these channels.
DVD
Change the Audio, Subtitle, and DVD menu language. Turn Subtitles on or off.
Network
The Network Settings screen allows you to test the network connection and to refresh the connection to the TiVo® service.
Press the connect to the TiVo® service now button
The Connecting screen is displayed.
Channel
In the Channel Settings screen you can perform a new channel scan for the available TV tuner cards and the TV source which is connected to the selected tuner. It is also possible to test the signal strength here. The signal strength meter indicates how well a particular digital TV channel is being received.
Parental Control and Kidzone
Parental Control with KidZone prevents your children from viewing shows you don’t want to them to see. You can set an age range which applies to your household. This will set rating limits and create an approved channel list. Programs with adult content will still appear in the Now Playing List, but you must enter a password to view them.
Account & System Information
In the Messages & Settings screen press the Account & System Information button to get all needed information on your account status and on the configuration of your system. You also find a list of trademarks and their respective owners here.
Press select on your remote control or use the mouse.
The Account and System Information screen is displayed.

The System Information gives an overview on your installed software version, your account status, the recording capacity of your hard drive, the program source, and the location.
You can change the Media Access Key to access TV recordings from your home network.

Reset System
Under Reset System you can clear most of your settings and program information. If needed, you can also repeat the Guided Setup.

- Perform the following steps to repeat the Guided Setup:
Select Repeat Guided Setup.
The Guided Setup screen will start automatically.
Press THUMBS DOWN three times, then press ENTER.
Follow the on-screen instructions until Guided Setup is complete.
For exact instructions refer to: Guided Setup - The Clear Thumb Ratings & Suggestions option will empty the TiVo® Suggestion list. The Suggestions will not be recorded until you give Thumb ratings to programs again.
- The Clear Program Information & To Do List option will delete everything in the To Do List (which will cancel your scheduled recordings). This will also clear your Season Pass™ information, WishList® searches, Thumb ratings, and TiVo® Suggestions. This will not delete programs that are in the Now Playing List.
- Reset Settings will reset your audio settings, channel settings, display settings, DVD settings, recording, and video settings. This will not reset your parental controls, cancel upcoming recordings, or delete programs from your Now Playing List.
