The functionality of Nero PhotoSnap is implemented in several Plug-ins. Each Plug-in is a DLL file in the Nero PhotoSnap directory. If some functionality is missing in Nero PhotoSnap, the reason for this is most likely bad or missing plugins or plugin registration. Please check at first if all required files are present:
- The Nero PhotoSnap directory (usually for Nero 7 "C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero 7\Nero PhotoSnap" but the exact path depends upon your settings at install time) has to contain at least the following Plug-in files:
"BasicFilters.dll", "FImgPlg.dll", "PhotoEffects.dll" and "XImgPlg.dll". If one or more files are not available, then this is the cause of your problems. This can be fixed by reinstalling Nero. - If all of these files are present, then please try to register the Plug-ins again. The first step is to launch Nero PhotoSnap. In Nero PhotoSnap please use the "Hammer" toolbar symbol and open the options dialog. Then please click on "Plug-ins....". Now click on "unregister all" and click on "yes". Then please close both dialogs. Now use the hammer toolbar symbol again and click on "search Plug-ins". Click on "Start". Nero PhotoSnap should now find 4 Plug-in dlls. If not, then either the Plug-in path is incorrect (should point to your Nero PhotoSnap directory - see 1) or some Plug-in dlls are missing (see also 1). If all 4 plugins have been found, then please click on "register". Now close and reopen Nero PhotoSnap.
The problem should now be solved. If it still occurs, please send our support a list of files in your Nero PhotoSnap directory together with the file version information.
OEM represents "Original Equipment Manufacturer". These versions are normally sold to customers with bundled hardware like recorders or pc systems. The sale of these versions without the hardware (recorders, pc systems etc.) is allowed in Germany, Austria, Scandinavia, Eastern Europe and China. It is not allowed to sell these versions without the related hardware in all other countries. Nero 7 and Nero 8 Essentials are OEM versions whith limited functionality. Customers who have purchased an OEM or Essentials version can buy additional plug-ins or upgrade to the full version of Nero 8.

If you decide to open an image file with PhotoSnap Viewer, then the viewer is going to load the image and display it. The image is stored as a file somewhere on your harddisk. Usually the position to store such images is a temporary directory. Such temp directories are used by different applications. That means that for example applications like the Internet Explorer or your preferred mail application will store files there. Now if PhotoSnap Viewer is supposed to load and display one of these files, it will start to read the contents of the directory where the image came from. This is done to allow "browsing" through the images using the "arrow left" and "arrow right" buttons of the PhotoSnap Viewer's toolbar. Klicking on these buttons will browse through your temp directory and of course PhotoSnap Viewer will load and display these images. So this is normal behavior and not a bug.
What could you do against this?
What could you do against this?
- Use the option of your favorite browser to clean up temporary internet files (please read the manual of your browser for details) when closing your browser (for example Opera got a good option for this purpose). If the files are cleaned up, then PhotoSnap Viewer will find fewer or no image files to display in this directory.
- Set the attachment download directory of your mail application to a different folder than the temp directory. Then PhotoSnap Viewer will display images from the attachment directory and not the temp directory.
- Not opening images from mails with the "open" button, but instead using "download image" first and storing the image in your images folder on your harddisk and then opening the image manually afterwards (for example by using a double click in the Explorer).
