This problem is caused by special Nero 7 registry entires which have not been removed during the deinstallation of Nero 7. Please use our new Nero 7 CleanTool for removing this entries. After that the installation of Nero 8 will proceed without any problems.

In order to keep the size of the download file small, help files have been excluded from this version. You can download help files in your own language from:

Windows Vista is supported by Nero 7 since the version Nero 7.5.7.0.. Older versions of Nero 7 do not support Windows Vista. If you are trying to install Nero 7 from your original disc it is likely that there is an older version included on this disc. If you want to install Nero 7 on Windows Vista please be sure that you will only use our latest Nero 7 version you can download from our website. Also please be sure that there won't be any rests of old Nero 7 versions on your system by performing the following steps:

1.
Start uninstalling all old Nero 7 applications and files from your computer using the Nero 7 CleanTool

Download the Nero 7 CleanTool using the following link:
Click here.
Save this file to your desktop.
Unzip the ZIP-file with WinZip or WinRAR and save the content to your hard drive.
Double-click on the unzipped EXE-file to start the CleanTool.
The window “Nero General Clean Tool” will open. The installed Nero version will be displayed.
Activate the checkboxes in the displayed Nero version.
Then click the “Clean” button.
A status window will open.
The execution of the tool may take several minutes.
Please wait until the progress bar has moved completely to the right.
In the window “Nero General Clean Tool” click the “Exit” button as soon as the erasing procedure is completed.
Reboot your computer.
The Nero 7 CleanTool has removed all Nero entries from your computer.

To install the latest Nero 7 version, please proceed as follows:
(Note: do not install a previous Nero 7 version from an installation CD now, but download and install the latest version of Nero 7 from our website. All Nero 7 download versions have the full range of functions as an original Nero 7 installation CD. There is no need to install a previous version of Nero first.)

Download and install the latest Nero 7 version from our website using the following link:
Click here.
Save this file to your desktop.
Double-click the downloaded Nero 7 installation file to start the installation.
Enter your Nero 7 serial number during the installation to make your Nero into a permanent version. (The download without a serial number is a trial version only).
You now have a newly installed version of Nero 7 on your computer.

• I have registered my copy of Nero
  If you have registered your Nero serial number on our website, please proceed as follows:
  
  Login to the following website using your registered e-mail address and your password:
  http://my.nero.com/
  Click the My Home tab and then the My Serials entry.
  The Registered Nero serials window will open.
  Click the Display link behind the product name of the registered serial number.
  Your serial number will be displayed.



• Nero 7 is still installed on my computer
  If Nero is still installed on your PC, you can find the serial number in the registry.
  Please proceed as follows:
  Click "Start" in the Windows start menu.
  Click the "Run" command.
  The window "Run" will open.
  Enter "regedit" in the "Open" text field and click the "OK" button.
  The registry window will open.
  You will find your serial number on the left side in the navigation tree.
  Simply go into the path
  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ahead\Installation\Families\Nero 7\Info
  Your serial number is displayed next to the "Serial7" entry. It is structured as follows:
  Retail version: 1Cxx-xxxx-xxxx-...
  Nero Essentials: 4Cxx-xxxx-xxxx-...
  Please write down your serial number.



• Nero 7 is not installed on my computer. I own a Nero 7 retail CD version of Nero.
  If Nero is not installed on your computer, you can find the serial number for the Nero 7 retail CD version on a white sticker on the CD jewel case.



• Nero 7 is not installed on my computer. I have purchased a download version (serial number) in the Nero Web shop.
  If you purchased Nero before April 2007 please contact sales@nero.com and provide your complete ordering details.
  If you have purchased Nero after April 2007 please login to our Webshop with your e-mail address and password:

  Click the Resend order mail link and you will receive the order confirmation e-mail again including your Nero serial number.
  If you do not remember the password you can request a new one.



• Nero 7 is not installed on my computer. I have purchased a new computer/laptop, Nero was pre-installed on my computer.
  Computers and laptops with pre-installed Nero software are delivered with a Nero 7 Essentials version.
  You have received a Nero7 installation disc.
  The Nero 7 Essentials serial number is either printed on the CD paper sleeve or your copy of Nero 7 Essentials has an embedded serial number. In this case you will not have to enter a serial number during the installation of Nero 7. Simply start the installation directly from your Nero 7 Essentials installation disc.



• Nero 7 is not installed on my computer. I have purchased a new DVD recorder, Nero was bundled with this new drive.
  Your new DVD recorder was delivered with a Nero 7 Essentials version.
  You have received a Nero 7 installation disc.
  The Nero 7 Essentials serial number is either printed on the CD paper sleeve or your copy of Nero 7 Essentials has an embedded serial number. In this case you will not have to enter a serial number during the installation of Nero 7. Simply start the installation directly from your Nero 7 Essentials installation disc.

Unfortunately it's not possible to use the Template Packs from Nero 7 (Nero Vision 4) in Nero 8 (Nero Vision 5).
