New Features
- Nero Linux now fully supports small screen resolution like 800x480 pixels
- The device communication library now supports HAL for locking/unlocking devices and detecting device addition/removal.
- Hotplug also works even if the /proc/scsi/scsi file is not present or HAL not usable.
- Application restart is unnecessary when loading the 'sg' module while Nero Linux already runs. The device list will be correctly updated.
- Nero Linux now uses NeroAPI version 7.20.
- Nero Linux now has some command line arguments. You can see the full list by typing 'nero --help'.
- Some MIME types are now registered when installing the application for GNOME and KDE desktops. You will then be able to open every handled file with a click.
- The access rights of a new file being added this file are now checked, to ensure that no burn error will occur. This check can be disabled in the 'Options' dialog box.
- To avoid burn process errors, some additional checks are performed before burning a bootable disc, when a logical drive is the source.
- The user can now control the ejection of the source drive when copying a disc directly from the 'Compilation Properties' dialog box.
- The user will be warned as soon as he tries to create a non-standard disc. For example, the application will display a warning if you try to write an audio compilation to a non-finalized data disc.
- A Nero Linux XPM pixmap is now installed in the /usr/share/pixmaps folder and a manpage for the 'nero' executable file is installed.
- The Debian package contains a 'Section' entry.
- The FLAC Plug-in now handles vorbis tags (artist, title, album...) in both encoder and decoder.
- MP3 files preview has been optimized to avoid freezing while the file gets scanned.
- The MP3 Plug-in now allows files with embedded cover arts and large ID3v2 tags.
- All kinds of data tracks can now be selected for hexadecimal viewing.
- The 'Internet DB' button in the 'Save Tracks' dialog box is only enabled when some audio tracks are in the list widget.
Changes/Bugfixes
- The 64bits MP3 Plug-in does not have an executable stack anymore.
- The Audio CD engine has been improved to correctly handle variable bitrate (VBR) MP3 files.
- The Hex Editor used to view the raw content of a track has been improved to correctly handle selections.
- The OGG/Vorbis encoder no longer loses the end of the file.
- The 'Follow Symbolic Links' option is now fixed for symlinks to regular files.
- The WAV Plug-in no longer crashes when dealing with imcomplete files.
- The sound driver is now properly closed when a erroneous file is previewed. This avoids the 'Device or resource busy' error.
- The DVD-Video/miniDVD compilations now load correctly. All the items that should go in the VIDEO_TS folder are in it.
- Fixed the position of some dialog boxes and the window icon under IceWM.
- Fixed the boot locale feature when creating bootable discs based on the 'DosBootImage.ima' image file.
- A crash occured when displaying the content of an empty disc in the file browser. This has been fixed.
- Fixed some false warnings indicating that the /sys directory was not mounted.
- Fixed some French translations.
- It was possible in Audio CD compilations that half a second of a previous track played at the end of the following track.This is now fixed.
- Fixed the preview of audio files with non-ASCII characters in the compilation editor.
- When the multisession setting of the 'New Compilation' dialog box was set to 'Continue Multisession', a 'Select Track' window was popped up when creating a bootable disc. This is now fixed.
- No FreeDB query takes place when a disc does not contain an audio track.
- The boot source is now correctly updated when you change from 'Logical Drive' to 'Image File' and vice versa.
- The 'Destination folder' label was missing in the 'Encode Files' dialog box. It is now placed on the left of the text entry widget.
- Fixed a refresh problem in the 'Save Tracks' dialog box when the encoding process is finished. The dialog box no longer loses the user customization in the track list.
- Fixed an invalid CD EXTRA recognition in the 'Disc Info' dialog box.
- When displaying the tracks on a disc in the file browser, a FreeDB lookup is only triggered if the disc contains at least one audio track.
- If a track is currently being previewed while closing the 'Save Tracks' dialog box then the preview player is also stopped.
- The track number field is now correctly set when ripping an audio track from a CD.
